Osmotic Blistering
Osmotic Blistering leads to delamination of a boat's hull
|
As water is absorbed into the layers of fiberglass, it attacks the chemicals in the resins, and causes the fiberglass to delaminate, resulting in small bumps or blisters. Over time the blisters become larger, eventually connecting to each other and producing large areas of delamination. The cost of repairing this damage can exceed the boat's value.
